Portland Thorns fans will head to Providence Park on October 3 to see their team face the Boston Legacy in a critical push toward the playoffs. The squad currently sits in fifth place, fighting for a top-four spot that would secure a home playoff game.
Why it matters
The team aims to break into the top four of the National Women's Soccer League standings to ensure home-field advantage for the postseason. Achieving this depends on improving late-match consistency after a recent 1-1 draw against the Houston Dash.
The Thorns hold 5th place in the NWSL standings as they pursue a top-four finish, a vital target for hosting playoff games. It is still unknown which specific teams will occupy the final playoff bracket.
